The traffic started to pick up in town on the weekend of sound splash, so the crew at Karioi lodge made sure we had our food and necessities for a fun weekend. A group of us signed up for volunteering at the event in exchange for free admission. From Splash Ambassador to camping management, each of us completed around 10 hours of work and then met up after to enjoy the music. The line up had big names from Jungle Giants, to Ladi 6, Katchafire and Shape Shifter.
Friday night started with a younger crowd, and with all the rain during the day the pathways were a little muddy and slick. By the end of the night, you know someone had a good time when they were covered head to toe with mud and glitter and didn’t have a care in the world. Saturday was a wider variety of ages filling all of the three concert areas by nightfall. The energy was bouncing throughout the festival all three days with dancing, singing and enjoying delicious food from the vendors.
The night ended with a ride back to the lodge, smiles all around, and stories to share from the night. The best part about the lodge is the location outside of the town’s chaos. Raglan can be so jam packed yet no one would even know we’re up here… The best way to relax after a weekend of crowds.
